Water Play

Picture
Water Play is the highlight of every Wednesday here at Holly Street! Water Play is an opportunity for our children to cool off in the summer months with water tables and sprinklers, as well as work on coordination and learn about volume, pouring, floating, sinking, and cooperation.

Every Wednesday, children should come prepared for Water Play with a swimsuit, water shoes, swim diapers (for those not yet potty trained), a change of clothes, and a towel-- all items marked with the child's name. T-3,T-4, 3's, and Pre-K should arrive at Holly Street dressed for morning Water Play (will begin about 9:45 A.M.), and T-1,T-2  will enjoy water play in the mornings (Beginning about 9:15 A.M.). Teachers apply sunscreen to all children during water play unless special instructions are given. There is no additional fee for water play.

Music-N-Motion

Kids love Music with Ms. Linda! Every Thursday, Linda brings music, dance, and a cast of puppets to Holly Street for group singing and dancing activities. Kids learn classic songs we all remember along with new songs and games, and have every opportunity to shake their sillies out. Music  requires a $15 monthly fee and is a year-round activity for children from T-4 through Pre-K.  Please click here for more information on what children learn while participating in music activities.

Dance/Tumbling with Ms. Jenny

My name is Jenny Tyler and I am extremely excited to be running the dance program at Holly Street Day Care this year.  I am originally from Nashville and grew up in Franklin.  I began dancing when I was 2 years old and have had over 25 years of teaching experience.  I currently own and operate a studio in Nashville where we train elite competitive dancers.  I have raised many dancers since the age of 15 months who have gone on to pursue amazing accomplishments.  I have three children, all girls who dance and a husband who is also a dance teacher and motivational speaker for kids dance assemblies. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to teach some of the youngsters at Holly Street.  I will be teaching them the disciplines in ballet, rhythm and tumbling.  We will have a year end recital, in May and the children will demonstrate all that we have learned.  We are going to have a fantastic time while learning so many new skills. Dance requires a $35 monthly fee and runs from September through May and is for classes Toddlers thru PK.

Field Trips

Kids LOVE field trips, and so does Holly Street! Field Trips are introduced in our T-3 class as an occasional activity, and continue through our school-agers program with increased frequency. We travel to the Children's Theater, the Pumpkin Patch, the Zoo, Warner Parks, Shelby Park, TPAC, and the Nashville Public Library, to name a few. Parents receive adequate notice when a field trip is scheduled, along with instructions on what to pack and what children should wear that day. We travel by bus to all of our field trips, and we always have plenty of staff to oversee our travels. If there is an admission fee associated with the activity, it will be announced in advance and added to your balance for that month.
