Holly Street Programs

Our classrooms are organized by age and by readiness, with children typically transitioning between classrooms in August, to match the academic school year. We try our best to alert parents in advance of any classroom change.

Nursery

Picture
Ages 6wks- 13 months In the nursery our focus is love and attention. The ratio is 3 adults to 8 babies so that we have the opportunity to give the children one on one time and build relationships with the children and families so that they feel safe and secure.

T-1 Class

Picture
Ages 12months- 18 months  In T-1, we focus on providing a warm, loving and nurturing environment so that the children feel safe, secure and comfortable. We work on building relationships with the children and their families as well as helping the children learn to socialize with each other. We love to sing, dance, and play with the children as well as go outside for walks in the bye-bye buggy. At lunch the children  have their own plate and spoon to eat with and drink using a sippy cup. Parents receive daily reports, and extra activities include Dance, Music-N-motion, and Water Play.

T-2 Class

Picture
Ages 18months-22 months   In T-2, we focus on the Holly Street belief that play is a child's work. When your child is playing play dough, building blocks, or running on the playground they are enhancing valuable skills that help them learn and grow. Art and sensory experiences are a large part of your child's creative imaginative development in our class. This is an age of major exploration-- even though we use smocks, please keep in mind that your child's clothes might get dirty during art, lunch, outside, or every day activities. So please, please have your child wear daycare clothes in T-2! Parents receive daily reports, and extra activities include Dance, Music-N-Motion, and Water Play.

T-3 Class

Ages 22-30 months In T-3, we focus on the Holly Street belief that play is a child's work.  When your child is playing play dough, building blocks, or running on the playground they are enhancing valuable skills that help the learn and grow.  Art and sensory experiences are a large part of your child's creative imaginative development in our class.  This is an age of major exploration-- even though we use smocks, please keep in mind that your child's clothes may get dirty during art, lunch, outside, or other every day activities. So please, please have your child wear daycare clothes in T-3!  Children in this class may be learning to use the potty, and we have one right in our classroom for those students interested in trying. A two-hour nap time is observed in the T-3 classroom at noon every day. Parents receive daily reports, and extra activities include Dance, Music-N-Motion, and Water Play.

T-4 Class: Upstairs Red Building

Picture
Ages 30-36 months Moving to T-4 is a great big step in a child's life at Holly Street-- moving from the Toddler House to the Red Building, and from the small playground to the big one at the center of our campus. In T-4, we begin to really focus on children learning to clean up after themselves, which helps them learn to organize and categorize. To accomplish this, we have several "centers" around the room, with toys organized by activity (dress up, books, etc.) Children wear a center-specific tag for the center that they choose to play in. If there are no center tags for the center they want to play in, they learn to choose a different center. This helps them to exercise their ability to take turns and be patient. And, of course, a big focus of our day is on potty training!
A two-hour nap time is observed in the T-4 classroom at noon every day. Extra activities include Dance, Music-N-Motion and Water Play.

3's Class

Picture
3 year olds (potty trained) In the 3's classroom we will be working daily to instill a sense of confidence and independence through daily activities. Each morning during circle time we will choose class helpers for various activities including lunch, snack, feeding the fish, and many others.  This gives the children a feeling of ownership in the classroom.  During lunch each child is encouraged to embrace a family style atmosphere by carrying on conversation with their classmates as well as serving their own food or milk. In combination with other various tasks each child will be expected to try, our goal as teachers is to give your child the confidence to become self-reliant. A two-hour nap/ rest time is observed in the 3's classroom at noon every day. Extra activities include Dance, Music-N-Motion, Field Trips, and Water Play.

Pre-K Class

Picture
In the Pre-k classroom our goal is that all the children leave Holly Street Daycare with a love for learning and the tools they need to be productive in school. In Pre-K the children learn through play. We intentionally set the environment so they can work on the skills they need for Kindergarten while they are engrossed in play. There are paper and pencils in every center so they can strengthen their fine motor/ writing skills and they also have journals that they write in daily. The children have a sign in sheet that they use to sign in daily so they can learn to write their name. There is a love note mailbox in the Pre-K classroom that parents can use to leave a note for their child to be read to them at nap time. We take our Pre-K children on many different field trips such as, TPAC, Nashville Children's Theatre, Zoo, Nature Center, Pumpkin Patch, etc. Extra activities include Dance, Music-N-Motion, Water Play, and Field Trips.

School-Age Program

Picture
Holly Street's School-Age program is designed to give children in grades K-6 healthy, safe activities throughout the summer months. Every day is a new adventure for us, whether we're canoeing the Green River, going to the pool, hiking Mammoth Cave, exploring the Adventure Science Center, or visiting the zoo. Our goal is to make it a safe and memorable summer for school-age children.
